Orange outlines are the majority-Black county (and independent-city) borders. Rural Delta and Black Belt counties often exceed 70–85% Black with lower median incomes; suburban Prince George’s, DeKalb, Henry, and Charles sit much higher on income.

Marriage: nationally, a smaller share of Black adults are currently married than White or Asian adults (ACS). Local rates in these counties typically track that pattern, with higher never-married shares in both rural high-poverty counties and some large cities.
